I rode the Cardinal end to end (Washington-Chicago, which were the end points in 1996). I liked it, but it has drawbacks, as noted in the video. In 2010, the Virginia Assn. of Railway Patrons, representing passengers in Virginia and West Virginia, and of which I was chairman of the board, had a campaign to make the Cardinal daily. We contacted Congressional representatives and online cities, towns, colleges, and chambers of commerce asking them to request a daily Cardinal. It still runs only three times a week each way.
